DINÉ BIKÉYAH
VOLUME ONE
In the Navajo language, the members of the tribe are known as the ‘Diné’— the People. ‘Bikéyah’ refers to the nation or land of the people. Diné Bikéyah, Land of the Navajo, is a special and very personal work. Four volumes are planned.
This initial work, Volume One, contains twelve black and white photographs and twelve sandpainting tracings. A complete background can be read in the online booklet included with the art.
The photographs reflect my extensive travels on the Reservation, which is the same size as New England. The images included in the work were taken over several years, in all seasons, from the ground and in the air.
Volume One is limited to 12 copies plus two artist’s proofs which are donated to the Navajo Nation. Prints and tracings are 17” x 22″ in size.
