ROCKY TOP PRESS
Founded in 2000, Rocky Top Press, Inc. is a publishing, printmaking, and letterpress printing operation for the distribution of photographic works by Sean C. Rice.
The primary focus of Mr. Rice’s work is to create multi-image portfolios related to a single subject. The physical portfolio is designed in the context of the specfic work and represents a supporting , and neccessary part of each portfolio. The combination of the physical portfolio and the images represent a unique representation of his vision.
Each portfolio, as a complete work, is a limited edition, usually less than 12 complete sets. The images contained in a portfolio are marketed as individual signed prints, nearly all of which are printed at Rocky Top Press on Hahnemühle archival paper, the finest that is offered. In limited cases, other papers, and other image providers are used. In all work, papers that are used are specifically identified.
Currently two wide-format printers are used: Canon Pro-2000 and Epson Stylus Pro 9900.
Each work shown on the website includes an About and Colophon description. It is important that these be read in order to understand the scope of the work. For selected works, lengthier introductions can be found.
In addition to the portfolios, RTP produces annually a Lands of the Navajo black & white wall calendar that is printed in Rhode Island on a true black and white duotone press. It is the same size and print quality as the Ansel Adams wall calendar.
